Coldplay sixth studio album.

The follow-up to 2011′s Mylo Xyloto was recorded over the last two years at London’s The Bakery and The Beehive studio. Though produced primarily by the band itself, the nine-track album features a number of notable outside producers, namely Paul Epworth (Adele, Paul McCartney, U2), Timbaland, and Avicii.

According to the band, their original intentions for Mylo Xyloto was to create a more “stripped-down, more acoustic collection”, but they eventually recorded perhaps one of their most experimental records to date. When work on Ghost Stories began in 2012, they returned to the acoustic idea almost immediately.

“There’s only so far you can go without becoming pompous and a bit overblown,” drummer Will Champion told the BBC back in March. “So we’ll tread that line very carefully. Reset. Recalibrate.”(http://consequenceofsound.net/)

It was announced today that on May 13th Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid. After mining by the Estate of Jackson’s archives, Reid was granted unlimited access to the treasures spanning four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals. Reid then teamed up top producers to “contemporize” the songs while retaining Jackson’s essence and integrity, creating the best music you’ve never heard. The list of producers include global hitmakers Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain. The new album will feature eight brand new recordings. A Deluxe Edition of XSCAPE will include a selection of the recordings in their original form. 

Both the standard and Deluxe Edition’s are available April 1st for pre-order on iTunes and elsewhere. The title of this album honors Michael’s album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project. John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said, “Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.”

Hunter Hayes fans may have to wait until next week to download a copy of his sophomore album, Storyline but they can get an early listen this week for free via iTunes.

Hayes co-wrote and co-produced each of the 14 tracks on the album. The versatile album kicks off with the fast paced “Wild Card” and includes the poignant “When Did You Stop Loving Me” as well as previously released track “You Think You Know Somebody” and his powerful new single “Invisible.”

In an interview with Radio.com before the GRAMMYs, Hayes explained how “Invisible” is “a totally new concept” for him.

“I always write about something pretty personal, [but] this sets a new standard for me,” he said. “I didn’t go in to write this song necessarily, I went in to write something else. [Songwriters] Bonnie Baker, Katrina Elam and I ended up writing about how we all, in different ways, can relate to the message of being an outcast, being misunderstood, being… essentially bullied.”

He added: “I say that very carefully because I know there’s a lot of people who go through that on a much larger scale. In whatever way I can relate to it, the song is about that. It’s about disappearing among the crowd, not having a place to fit in, being different you know? Being a music geek in high school, middle school, [and] now, I’ve just now gotten comfortable with the fact that I can call myself a geek and be proud of it.”
